RAISING THE VOICE OF THE RIVER

RIVERTREE Inc invites you to a screening of the documentary feature film RIVERTREE.

It's a tale that honors the majestic Clarence River (Biirrinba, Boorimbah), the unwavering care of community, and the stand against rare earth mineral mining along her remote banks.

An adventure of community, connection and kin in the shadow of the mountains, and the race to mine her rare minerals buried in the mountains.

Join us on a cinematic odyssey down this precious river system at a local screening near you. Together we can raise the voice of the river.

“Freshwater , saltwater people, old and new,  black and white, we are all river people. She connects us all.

We are the custodians and stewards of our great rivers. And now we must stand together all of us. Our united voices have the power to move like the river when it comes out into the ocean.’’

“ We have to make it not ok to pollute a pristine river. We have to make it part of our story that that river is alive and living. Just like we give personhood to a corporation for gods sake, why aren’t we doing that to a river system?”

“This place is thriving. We don’t need a new industry to come in and threaten everything for the profit of a few”

“We spent about a month shooting Rivertree; paddling and portaging the Clarence River, meeting and interviewing community members, researching and learning.  To me the highlight was getting to do all that with my good friends. Along with Ry X offering his entire back catalogue to the project - it was a very generous and empowering gift.”

‘’Renewable energy is part of the solution for a better future, but it’s not the only one , and we cannot move into any kind of sustainable or regenerative future if we replace the endless extractivism of fossil fuels with an endless extractivism of rare metals, especially when it comes at the price of destroying our ecosystems.’’
